Gastein is the leading alpine health region, with a history of tourism dating back several centuries. In the summer, you can enjoy 600 kilometres of marked hiking routes through the valley, which take you to 60 managed huts and up to the icy peaks of the Hohe Tauern National Park. In the winter, all your wishes will be fulfilled by four ski resorts with state-of-the-art climbing aids and more than 200 kilometres of pistes. You can also make use of hot thermal waters to recuperate and relax, with 5 million litres being used every day in the two large thermal baths, the Alpentherme and the Felsentherme Gastein, and in the numerous hotels in the area. The three villages in the area – the fascinating Bad Gastein, the dignified Bad Hofgastein and the traditional Dorfgastein – all offer a warm welcome to their visitors, with a total of 16,000 guest beds.  All year round, Gastein invites its guests to recharge their batteries, revitalise themselves and take off, and gives them a bit more vitality.

The connected spa and rehabilitation centre was extensively renovated and modernised in 2011.

In total, Gasteiner Bergbahnen AG operates 26 cable car and lift facilities and around 130 kilometres of pistes in the Schlossalm-Anger valley-Stubnerkogel interconnected ski area and in the high ski resort of Sportgastein. In winter and summer alike, this area offers its guests a wide variety of delights and, both literally and metaphorically, mountains of beautiful moments. The winter highlights are attractions that are accessible all year round: the suspension bridge, the Glocknerblick viewing platform and the cliff route at the Stubnerkogel, the children’s amusements in the Anger valley, the Ski Movie route on the Schlossalm, and the free-ride area in Sportgastein. In the summer, you can enjoy stunning views from the Stubnerkogel peak, the Schlossalm mountain has a wide variety of delights for families and adventurers of all ages, and you can relax and hike among the magical Swiss pines of the Graukogel. The Schlossalm generation project is also currently receiving a great deal of investment. NEW: from December 2018, guests will be able to enjoy a comfortable 10-passenger cable car, in which they can reach the ideal routing point without needing to change cable cars, as well as enjoying an attractive trip all the way down to the middle station. With a new storage pond and snow-making system extensions, there is an even more reliable guarantee of snow.

The Salzburger Verkehrsverbund GmbH is a company that is 100% owned by the state of Salzburg. Their legal basis can be found in §§ 17 and 18 of the ÖPNRV-G.
The tasks of the Salzburger Verkehrsverbund GmbH include:
The traffic planning conception and further development of local and regional passenger transport lines and networks
Coordinating the ordering of transport services
Checking the fulfillment of quality criteria
The exercise of network-specific (cross-company) marketing and sales activities as well as the implementation of network-specific customer information
Function as arbitration and clearing house for the settlement and allocation of proceeds
Development of proposals for local and regional authorities for local and regional transport planning
Planning for the conclusion of transport service contracts (orders) including cost and revenue estimation
Processing of transport service contracts, ordering of transport services in scheduled motor transport as well as tendering procedures on behalf of local authorities and other third parties
Hearing when concessions are awarded (route-related concessions)
The Salzburger Verkehrsverbund GmbH currently employs around 50 people and is part of “Mobilitätsverbund Österreich”, which ensures public mobility in Austria as a merger of the seven transport associations. The Austrian Mobility Associations ensure the implementation and ongoing optimization of a climate-friendly, forward-looking public transport network that is accessible and affordable for everyone.
