Your time can help others realize their dreams
“We make a living by what we get but we make a life by what we give” – Winston Churchill
Signing up to be a volunteer for the adidas INFINITE TRAILS World Championships can be fun, rewarding and a way to help others accomplish their goals on the beautiful paths of Gastein/SalzburgerLand, Austria.
As a volunteer you can really be a huge boost mentally and physically to hundreds of runners from around the world that need you there both as a safety net, and a friendly road map but most importantly as moral support for the runners.
When I asked Jan Regenfuss – the adidas INFINITE TRAILS World Championships’ Course and Sweep Manager and a veteran runner – if he ever took time to volunteer, he answered:
“Of course I volunteer. As a sportsman sometimes you take and even more often you have to give. For me as an athlete it is important that I show my passion for this sport not only by taking part, but even more by helping others create amazing events.”
Many of us are still planning our Summer weekends in 2019 and now is the perfect time to set aside the weekend of June 27th to the 30th in order to be in Gastein/SalzburgerLand and give our valuable time for a fun event in the great outdoors.
This form on Gastein.com/ait-volunteers will have you signed up and ready to go in perhaps 30 seconds and the folks in charge are ready and very willing to answer any questions you might have. You can reach them at helfer@gastein.com.
The adidas INFINITE TRAILS World Championships does also have some very nice perks; you will receive 30€ per day, free meals, an adidas running shirt worth 49€ and you will be insured in case of an accident.
Though some of your duties are to be sure the athletes stay on the correct trails and be there in case of emergency, these are far from being your lone contributions. It can’t be stated enough how much of a boost that runners get from your presence, your motivating words and welcoming smiles. Some of the athletes during these long and often lonely trails just need a little help to find that next gear to push themselves to their limits. Though they may not be able to tell you personally, you will know that you were a part of a team that helped these people achieve their goals and dreams of finishing such a race.
Jan put it this way:
“Volunteers can push an athlete to his/her limits. As a volunteer you have to push an athlete – you are the only friend in this moment and the athlete listens to your advice. So a volunteer is not only there for advice about the track but even more for motivation, for a power up and the rescue aid if necessary.”
Runners from 30 different nations who will cross the entire globe to be a part of a one-of-a-kind event in a dreamy location, need you. Without you and 349 others, the adidas INFINITE TRAILS World Championships cannot exist, but with you it can be one of the most fun, well organized and unique sporting events in the world.
Don’t miss the chance to be part of something big, something incredibly fun and something that, if you come once and just give it a shot, you’ll almost surely be back for years to come!
