Prologue route description

Length: 18,97 km
Elevation change: 1507 m+/123 m-
Surface types: gravel path, trail, asphalt
Highlights: Bad Gastein waterfall / suspension bridge

GPS-TRACK // After the start, you follow the fastest path through Bad Hofgastein’s spa park onto the Achenpromenade (flat gravel path). You do not leave the latter until the route starts going uphill at approximately 6 kilometres.

After running along Wasserfallweg, you enter a brief asphalt section leading into Bad Gastein, cross the bridge at the legendary Bad Gastein waterfall (1st aid station, drinks), and after a further, very vigorous ascent, you reach the Stubnerkogel cable car at 8.8 km. The next three kilometres until you reach Altböckstein (2nd aid station, full service) are flat, but you should not overstretch your legs, as the next section is a steep ascent from Altböckstein via the Böckfeldalm to the upper Zitteraueralm (15.3 km, elevation change: 1087 m). From there you have to overcome the last 400 metres of elevation to the finish.

The culmination of the first day is waiting for you at the finish: a summit party with an award ceremony.
