adidas INFINITE TRAILS 2020 cancelled

FOR THE SAFETY OF THE COMMUNITY

At adidas, the health and safety of our athletes and community always have the highest priority. The adidas Outdoor event team, together with the local authorities have carefully observed the ongoing situation. Given the current circumstances, the cancellation of the event is inevitable. This is also going along with the Austrian governments that all events until the end of June have to be cancelled.

In times like these, it is up to everybody to prevent the spread of the ongoing pandemic. Holding on to a global event in the scale of INFINITE TRAILS is irresponsible. Being athletes ourselves, we understand that a lot of time and preparation goes into the participation in an event like the adidas INFINITE TRAILS. We therefore also want to apologize for any inconvenience caused due to the cancellation of the event.

We strongly believe in our responsibility for the athletes, our volunteers and the entire community and it is important we live up to this responsibility. Therefore, we have no other choice than cancelling the event in 2020.

With more than 800 participants from 45 countries, adidas INFINITE TRAILS has seen a more than successful premiere in 2019. We saw a celebration of the sport, the community and the outdoors. The fantastic feedback from the previous year together with a strong increase in sign-ups was a big motivator to make the 2020 event a big festival for the entire outdoor community. The incredible support of the local community in the past weeks has shown how the event has fully landed in the area and had the potential to drive further traffic to the beautiful area of Gastein/ SalzburgerLand. Cancelling the event has therefore been a very hard, but only right decision – for our athletes, the outdoor community, the region of Gastein Valley in SalzburgerLand and society as a whole.

The idea of INFINITE TRAILS has always been to show trail running as a team sport rather than a sport for individuals. Let’s now take that team spirit in order to stop the spread of the pandemic.

The trails are waiting on the other side of this.

Stay safe,
your adidas INFINITE TRAILS team
